history

In 1977, 35 acres of land was donated to Cross Bar X and the first camp started with a borrowed Army tent and a small handful of boys. With a few financial gifts and the donation of pine trees, the first log building was built to accommodate a kitchen, dining room, and office. As with the cabins, staff housing, and lodge that followed, all the buildings were completed with volunteer help. Many people have invested their time, skills and money to bring Cross Bar X into a reality. From the first summer with three boys and a tent to 185 campers and 6 cabins many things have changed about the look and the program of Cross Bar X Youth Ranch. Over the past 30 years one thing that has remained the same is our desire to introduce each camper to Jesus Christ and see lives transformed every summer.
